On January 26, 2009, Houston traded Ianni to Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for a 2010 MLS SuperDraft third-round pick. He made his Sounders debut on May 16, 2009, on the road against FC Dallas and scored his first goal for the club against his former club Houston Dynamo on July 11, 2009.
