The season marked the managerial debut of Mauricio Pellegrino. Pellegrino assumed management of the club after the four-year tenure of Unai Emery in charge of the team, he was sacked on 1 December, later replaced by Ernesto Valverde. Manuel Llorente resigned after almost four years as Valencia president on 5 April 2013.
